He is best remembered for winning the 1929 Indianapolis 500, and for setting a land speed record. Keech set the land speed record of 207.55mph (334.02kmh) on WebTower, box, and chair seating grandstands at Daytona International Speedway. Named in memory of early racing legend Ray Keech (1900 - 1929), who set a land speed record on the sands of Daytona Beach in 1928.
